Rocket x Audi is the Bicocca reimagined together with the Audi Design Team. The idea of an espresso machine in Audi's design language had existed for a long time, and Rocket made it real: a prosumer machine built on the Rocket Bicocca, designed with studio Valerio Cometti + V12Design and inspired by a design icon, the Audi TT.
You can read the project in its surfaces. Reduced lines, every connecting radius defined with precision, and different surface textures that separate the monolithic housing from the working area at the front. The side panels rise towards the back, giving the machine a dynamic silhouette and an elegant border for your cups. Circular aluminium feet lift it off the counter so it appears to float.
The brewing unit follows the geometry of the body and blends into it rather than standing out as a separate part. Against the matt aluminium, the portafilter handle and rotary controls in glossy black add precise accents, while the 3.5 inch touch display with its textless interface sits in the upper section of the brewing unit for intuitive, precise control.
Underneath is the Bicocca's engineering. Dual stainless steel boilers, 0.5 l for coffee and 1.5 l for steam, insulated to save energy. A rotary pump fed by the 1.8 l water tank with reserve sensor, or plumbed directly into the water supply and selected in the menu. The electrically heated group with PID control holds a constant set temperature and limits heat loss, so extraction stays repeatable from the first espresso of the day to the last.
What we love
We like that the design takes nothing away from the coffee: behind surfaces inspired by the Audi TT sits a prosumer dual boiler with a PID group, and recipes are one tap away on the display. We also like that it is designed as a pair with the Spluga x Audi, the grinder developed specifically to form a single coffee system with it, and that it stays a Rocket through and through: designed and handmade in Milan, each machine assembled by hand at Rocket Espresso Milano.
