The Spluga x Audi was born alongside the Rocket x Audi, the espresso machine Rocket Espresso built on the Bicocca with the Audi Design Team and studio Valerio Cometti + V12Design. Rocket developed it specifically to sit next to the machine: the two share the same approach to design, proportion and detail, and on the counter they read as one coffee system.
Everyday use is simple. Select your dose on the display, place the portafilter beneath the grinding outlet and push it against the activation switch to start grinding. Grind size is set with the grind adjustment dial: finer lengthens extraction time, coarser shortens it. The hopper has a shutter you open to let the beans into the grinding chamber, and keeping the lid closed helps preserve freshness.
What we love
We like the idea of choosing machine and grinder as one project, born from the same design work, instead of pairing two objects each designed on its own. Next to the Rocket x Audi, the Spluga x Audi completes the counter with the same consistency of forms and materials, and it carries the Rocket Espresso Milano signature too.
Its mechanics are those of the Spluga: 65mm flat burrs, a 480W motor (1400 rpm at 50 Hz, 1680 rpm at 60 Hz) and espresso output of 2.6-3.3 g/s. 500g hopper, 3.5 inch touch display with three programmable doses and a continuous dose, quick release micrometric adjustment, adjustable metal fork and hands free portafilter support.
