Exploring Weber Workshops’ Grinders
In the world of specialty coffee, few brands embody the union of engineering precision and barista passion quite like Weber Workshops. Every product they release feels more like a crafted instrument than a tool — designed not just for performance, but for beauty, workflow, and ritual.
Now available on our website, the EG-1, HG-2, and Key grinders represent three distinct approaches to the same goal: achieving the perfect grind, every time.
EG-1
At the top of Weber’s lineup sits EG-1, the brand’s premier 80 mm flat-burr electric grinder, now in its refined Mk.3 version.
Engineered for everything, from pour-over to espresso, it delivers exceptional clarity and control across brewing styles.
One of its most notable features is the ability to choose between two specialized burr sets, both magnetically mounted for quick changes. The CORE burrs provide balanced performance for espresso and filter brewing, while the ULTRA burrs—designed specifically for pour-over and filter—maximize flavor clarity and definition.
On our website, ULTRA burrs can be purchased separately here.
Cleaning is another area where the EG-1 excels. Thanks to its magnetically sealed grind chamber, it can be fully opened, cleaned and reassembled.
Weber’s obsession with control extends to grind size and speed. The EG-1’s 5-micron stepped adjustment makes it effortless to move from Turkish-fine espresso to coarser filter settings without waste or recalibration.
Meanwhile, the variable-RPM system—a Weber innovation since 2015—uses a smart PID controller that senses bean density and dynamically adjusts speed in real time.
The new Purge button, introduced in the Mk.3, gives the burrs a brief reverse spin before a high-speed burst, effectively clearing out any stuck beans or leftover coffee grounds.
EG-1 is more than a grinder—it’s a precision instrument for those who view coffee preparation as a fine art.
HG-2
For those who prefer the tactile satisfaction of hand-grinding, HG-2 offers reliability, precision, and attention to detail. Evolving from the legendary HG-1, this second-generation model incorporates over a decade of refinement — and now shares many of the same innovations found in the electric Key Mk.2.
At its heart are 83 mm Mazzer conical burrs, among the largest ever used in a manual grinder. Pre-aligned, TiN-coated, and rated to last more than 5,000 kg of coffee, these burrs guarantee longevity and precision across all brewing methods. The integrated bean feeder ensures consistent grind quality.
Perhaps the HG-2’s most distinctive feature is its two-speed transmission gearbox. When tackling light roasts, simply shift into first gear; for darker roasts or quicker grinding, switch back to second gear. The result is smooth, effortless grinding no matter the roast profile.
As with all Weber designs, even the small details matter. The integrated cleaning brush, with its solid teak handle and brass ferrule, hides magnetically inside the frame—both elegant and practical. The Magic Tumbler, Weber’s patented mechanism for automated WDT grounds homogenization, ensures zero overspill and perfect distribution for all brew methods, while the Mk.2 version now includes improved wipers that minimize static and retention, eliminating the need for RDT sprays.
Key Mk.2
With Key, Weber’s design principles are applied in a smaller, easy-to-use grinder. Originally celebrated for fitting massive 83 mm Mazzer conical burrs into a remarkably compact body, the Key Mk.2 refines every detail while keeping its minimalist silhouette.
The upgraded version boasts a 50% increase in torque, thanks to a redesigned gear system and higher-current power supply. That means it can effortlessly grind even the lightest roasts at the lowest RPM settings.
Like its larger siblings, the Key prioritizes cleanliness and usability. The integrated cleaning brush snaps magnetically into place, ensuring your grinder always looks flawless.
Its 5-micron stepped adjustment makes dialing in easy, and the updated Magic Tumble— with new anti-static plates and a replaceable paper wiper—keeps grind retention below 0.1 g.
Built from premium materials and finished with Weber’s trademark precision, the Key Mk.2 delivers commercial-grade results in a form that fits comfortably on a home counter.
