Profitec Move Espresso Machine

This is the first generation Move. Both have a dual boiler with a ring group, an OLED display, programmable timed brew buttons, pre-infusion and scheduled on and off times. The Move 2.0 adds:

• Bluetooth, with the Make Coffee Yours app and Brew-by-Weight: with a compatible scale, the shot stops at the weight you choose;
• a smaller brew boiler, 0.27 litres instead of 0.4, and a warm-up of about 7 minutes instead of 8-9;
• a lower body: 355 mm instead of 375;
• a water filter in the box, which is a separate accessory for the Move, and a descaling reminder.

That is fast heat-up. With Fast Heating, the Move takes the brew boiler to about 120 °C to warm the group faster, then the Flush icon appears. Within 60 seconds, put a container under the group and press a brew button: the flush stops by itself after 10 seconds and "Ready Go" appears.

If you skip it, the machine stops heating and lets the temperature drop: it is not a fault. With Fast Heating the warm-up takes about 8-9 minutes, without it up to 20.

It needs to fill the boilers. Put a container under the group and press one of the brew buttons: the pump fills the brew boiler. Wait at least 30 seconds, until water comes out of the group, then press the same button again: "Fill" disappears and the steam boiler fills. When you no longer hear the pump, the Move starts heating.

Before your first espresso, rinse it with 2-3 tanks of water: once it is hot, switch it off, drain water through the hot water wand, refill the tank, switch it back on and wait for the brew temperature, then repeat. At the end, with the machine on, run the remaining water out through the group.

Fresh, soft, still drinking water, up to 4 °dH. The water filter is not in the box: it is a separate accessory.

Even with daily use, empty the steam boiler and refill it every 1-2 weeks; empty it too if the machine will stand unused for a while. You do not need to take anything apart, the pressure does the work: let it heat up, switch it off, put a large container under the hot water wand and open the hot water valve. When the boiler is empty, close the valve and rinse with fresh water, as at first start-up.

It depends on how much you use it, but as a rule:

• after every espresso run a little water through the group (flush): it clears coffee residue from the shower screen;
• every day backflush with the blind filter and water only;
• every 1-2 weeks, more often if you use it a lot, backflush with espresso machine detergent.

Do not overdo the detergent: even in small amounts, over time it strips the grease from the gaskets and O-rings and dries them out.

Profitec recommends the detergent clean roughly every 90-140 coffees.

With this routine and good quality water, the machine does not need descaling.

No. If you use the right water and keep up the routine (a flush after every coffee, a daily backflush with water and one with detergent every 1-2 weeks), descaling is not needed.

The 220 V version is rated 230 V, 50/60 Hz: it suits 220-240 V mains, the voltage in most of the world, Europe included, including where the frequency is 60 Hz. If your mains are low voltage, write to us before ordering.

Before plugging it in, check the nameplate at the front in the drip tray holder, and use an earthed socket with no extension cables or power strips.
