You adjust it by turning the hopper: clockwise for finer, anticlockwise for coarser. The adjustment is stepless.

Start by finding zero: turn clockwise until the burrs are fully closed. A little coffee left between the burrs can stop you reaching a fully closed position, and that is normal. With the 65CL burrs, go to +8 from there for espresso and +15 for pour over and V60, then fine-tune to your coffee. The dot stickers in the box let you mark the settings you use.

Press the button once: the Lagom Casa starts and switches itself off when it has finished, because it senses the load on the motor. Shipping or a burr change can throw this reading off. If it no longer stops by itself, empty the hopper, press and hold the button for about 10 seconds until the motor starts, and the sensor recalibrates.

When you have finished grinding, push the chute down and let it go with a flick: the clicker knocks out the last grounds. Only use it at the end, otherwise coffee clogs it.

Not often: it retains very little coffee, and cleaning it every 6 to 12 months is enough. It comes apart by hand, no tools needed:

• switch it off and unplug it;
• turn the hopper towards coarse until it comes free, and lift it off;
• gently pull out the upper burr carrier by hand: the burrs stay on their carriers;
• clean the grinding chamber with a brush or a vacuum cleaner.

No dishwasher, and no part goes into water. Our tip: when you put the hopper back, screw it on slowly and make sure the thread catches properly, then find zero again before you grind.

Yes: the Lagom Casa takes a 100 to 240 V supply. So it runs both on 220-240 V mains, the voltage in most of the world, Europe included, and on low-voltage mains such as North America's.
