No, you don't need a separate scale: it is built into the fork. You rest the portafilter on it and the ground coffee is weighed right there.

On the display you pick the grams you want for each brew, espresso, moka or filter, and the dose comes out already weighed. To give you an idea of speed: 8 g take 5.5 seconds, 16 g take 10.5 seconds.

With the adjustment ring under the hopper. First choose the brew type: bring the red notch into the Espresso, Moka or Filter sector. Then fine-tune without leaving that sector: clockwise for coarser, anticlockwise for finer. Adjustment is micrometric, 10 µm per step.

Always turn the ring with the motor running, and grind a little coffee at a time to check the result before you fill the portafilter.
